About the Role & Team

This role will perform Occupational Case Advocate related duties and will serve as a workplace accommodations advocate for both cast members and area leaders in relation to temporary restrictions secondary to an occupational injury. Overall, the incumbent will help with:

  • Being an advocate to injured cast members and area leaders to determine appropriate temporary accommodations secondary to occupational injuries.
  • Providing expertise and services specific to advancing the accommodations process, communicating policies and practices, and advising on workplace matters.
  • Assisting with implementing company-wide strategies to enable decisions that are consistent with company policies, values & culture.
  • Enhancing the employee experience by engaging with leaders and employees, during the workplace injury process, to ensure a safe working environment that is appropriate for the area and the injured cast member.   
  • Integrating with key partners to drive solutions that promote inclusion, employee engagement, and business results.

This is a 6-month internal assignment with no guarantee of permanent placement.

What You Will Do

  • Review temporary restrictions entered through Health Services, and connect with the cast member and area leadership to determine the appropriate accommodations that may be available through a timely, objective and thorough interactive conversation.
  • If accommodations are not available in the area, partner with the Transitional Duty team to determine whether any Transitional Duty roles are available based on the restrictions that have been issued.
  • Promote knowledge and understanding amongst leaders and employees regarding company policies, Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA) and Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).
  • Communicate accommodation request outcomes to cast member and area leadership, ensure responses and full understanding from all parties.
  • Partner and communicate with the Workers’ Compensation claims examiner to verify work status changes based on accommodations discussions, so that the claims examiner can determine what benefits may be due to the cast member.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate accounts of accommodation interactive conversations with timely memorialization of the notes and supporting documents into the case management system.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum 3-years of experience or in a professional role, with experience in human resources or equivalent preferred.
  • Critical thinker, with demonstrated experience translating strategic goals/concepts into action plans and implementing initiatives at an operational level.
  • Ability to analyze data, trends, and insights to identify the root cause of the event and translate into actionable solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong consultative and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to build strong, inclusive, and collaborative working relationships.
  • Ability to manage competing, high-priority demands; prioritizing workload, managing projects and multiple responsibilities against strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and be part of a team environment while developing highly effective and valued professional relationships with peers, colleagues, and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential situations with objectivity.
  • Highly collaborative, confident, and comfortable with all levels of the organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state laws / regulations (including but not limited to Title VII, ADA, CA Labor Code, ADAAA and FMLA).
  • Workers’ compensation knowledge or background in disability management.
  • Bilingual Spanish speaking/writing

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, human resources, psychology, sociology, industrial labor relations or similar related field and/or equivalent work experience.


The hiring range for this position in Anaheim, CA is $79,100 to $96,500 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
