The Senior Manager, Safety with a focus on facilities operations, provides strategic direction and daily oversight to salaried cast members responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining essential safety and operational programs across complex facilities environments. This role requires advanced technical judgment and leadership in identifying, assessing, and resolving a wide range of operational and safety challenges within facilities and infrastructure systems.
The Senior Manager, Safety reports directly to the Director, Safety Services and leads a team of approximately 10 to 15 technical and safety professionals.
What You Will Do
On any given day, as a Senior Manager, Safety, you might:
- Spearhead the creation and implementation of comprehensive strategies aimed at minimizing operational risks, ensuring regulatory compliance, and enhancing the safety and reliability of various facilities systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, ride systems, and building automation.
- Supervise the deployment of technical safety programs, perform detailed job hazard analyses, and assess performance metrics related to the operations and maintenance of facilities.
- Define and delegate team roles and responsibilities, endorse annual strategic plans, and ensure these plans are in sync with the overarching operational goals of the resort.
- Offer expert technical guidance during incident investigations, conduct thorough root cause analyses, and develop corrective action plans to address facilities-related issues.
- Review and interpret relevant codes, standards, and regulations (such as Cal/OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, ASHRAE), and incorporate industry best practices into operational procedures.
- Act as the primary liaison for senior facilities and engineering leadership, ensuring alignment on safety and operational priorities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Engineering Services, Maintenance, Environmental, and Attractions, to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Champion the adoption of innovative practices in facilities operations through the use of data analytics, predictive maintenance, and emerging technologies.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Here’s what you need to be successful at this job:
- 10+ years of experience in facilities operations, technical safety, or engineering within complex environments such as theme parks, manufacturing, healthcare, hospitality, or large-scale infrastructure.
- In-depth knowledge of technical systems and regulatory standards, particularly Cal/OSHA, building codes, and environmental regulations.
- Strong analytical skills with a proven track record in trend analysis, risk assessment, and performance metrics evaluation.
- Demonstrated project management experience in facilities upgrades, retrofits, or the implementation of safety programs.
- Ability to lead effectively in dynamic environments that require adaptability and technical problem-solving.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience in conflict resolution and managing high-impact operational challenges.
- Proven success in leading teams to achieve measurable improvements in safety and operational performance.
Preferred Qualifications
It would be great if you also have:
- Technical expertise in ergonomics, industrial hygiene, energy management, or environmental health & safety.
- Experience managing teams with direct reports in a facilities or engineering context.
- Bilingual proficiency is a plus.
Required Education
- 4-year college degree
Preferred Education
- Degree in Facilities Management, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Safety Engineering, or Occupational Safety.
- Advanced degrees and certifications such as CSP, CIH, PE, or FMP are highly desirable.

The hiring range for this position in California is $151,000.00-$202,500.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
