Senior Manager - Competitions & Tournaments, Sports League

About the Role:

Senior Manager - Sponsorships & Partnerships who will lead and drive the sponsorship and commercial agenda of the team. Sponsorships, commercials, and partnerships play a key role in the world of sports leagues and franchises across events and on-ground assets. In this role, you will be required to conceptualize and draft the sponsorship and commercial guidelines/policies for PKL. The individual will also be responsible for driving relationships and building guidelines that support Mashal’s commitment to driving the growth of the league.

Context:

Pro Kabaddi is a ground-breaking initiative by Mashal Sports Pvt. Ltd and Star India Pvt. Ltd. Ever since its inception in 2014, The League has revolutionized the sport of kabaddi with stunning innovations, making it an aspirational sport for players and fans alike. As Lead for Competition and Tournaments team, you will oversee all aspects of league management for the Pro Kabaddi League and other kabaddi events.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conceptualization and drafting of Sponsorship & Commercial guidelines & policy for annual PKL Season.
• Consultation and coordination with all stakeholders including Franchises, Broadcast Partners, and other Media Partners for PKL Sponsorships and Partnerships.
• Implementation of all sponsorship-related Ground and In-Venue entitlements and compliances for all stakeholders for PKL Season.
• Strong Awareness of sponsorship-related practices of PKL’s broadcast and media partners.
• Identification and incubation of new lines of commercial partnerships for PKL, and incubation of new sponsorship opportunities in Venues, Field-of-Play, and competition and Match structure.
• Liaison and coordination with Mashal Head of Competition and other Mashal Teams, as well relevant teams in Media and Broadcast Partners. 
• Coordination and liaison with commercial and sponsorship teams of PKL Franchises, particularly for annual PKL Seasons and other PKL events such as the Player Auction.
• Hands-on and practical leadership of very lean Sponsorships & Partnerships Team at Mashal.
• Conflict and dispute resolution related to responsibility areas.
• Legal and ethical compliance.
• Liaison and coordination with Mashal Head of Competition and other Mashal Teams, as well relevant teams in Media and Broadcast Partners. 
• Coordination and liaison with commercial and sponsorship teams of PKL Franchises, particularly for annual PKL Seasons and other PKL events such as the Player Auction.
• Hands-on and practical leadership of very lean Sponsorships & Partnerships Team at Mashal.
• Conflict and dispute resolution related to responsibility areas.
• Legal and ethical compliance.

Other:

• Work with the team on setting yearly and project-based objectives for Mashal Sports.
• Incubation of new genres of kabaddi to complement Pro Kabaddi League.
• Work on a high-quality ground event for other marquee tournaments as may be required.
• Provide operational support on projects as may be required.

QUALIFICATION

• A Master’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, Event Management, or a related field is preferred. 10+ years of relevant experience in managing Sponsorships / Partnerships and on-ground events execution is required.
• Direct experience with mobilization and activation of sponsorships and partnerships in multi-stakeholder programs.
• Strong awareness of sports sponsorships in India, particularly emerging practices (in digital and social media sponsorship areas
• Basic understanding of event management, event operations, marketing (and digital) activations and broadcast operations.
• Prior work experience with sports events to be preferred.
