What You Will Do:
As a Senior Audio/Video Engineer, you’ll play a key role in shaping the creative and technical vision of attractions, from early “blue sky” concepts through final delivery. This role is ideal for a design‑minded engineer who thrives at the intersection of creative intent, system architecture, and real‑world execution.
You’ll collaborate closely with Creative, Audio Media Design, Acoustics, Ride Engineering, Controls, and external partners to design audio and video systems that are integral to storytelling—not just infrastructure.
Lead the design and definition of attraction‑scale A/V systems, translating creative vision into cohesive, buildable technical solutions
Partner with Creative and Media teams early in the process to explore concepts, evaluate feasibility, and define system approaches that support storytelling
Design audio and video system architectures—from blue‑sky exploration through detailed design, production, installation, and turnover
Serve as a technical design authority, making recommendations that influence major engineering decisions across attractions and lands
Develop system requirements, specifications, layouts, test plans, and design documentation that clearly communicate intent and performance goals
Guide designers and vendors in creating subsystem designs, resolving interfaces between A/V, controls, ride systems, and facilities
Balance design vision, technical rigor, schedule, and budget, taking ownership of quality and outcomes throughout the project lifecycle
Conduct risk analysis and proactively address design challenges before they impact fabrication or installation
Support field implementation through troubleshooting, first‑article reviews, and system performance verification
Ensure designs align with Imagineering standards, industry best practices, and applicable codes
Required Qualifications & Skills:
7+ years of experience in show, attraction, or complex A/V system design
Strong background in designing and specifying audio and video systems for large‑scale or integrated environments
Proficiency with AutoCAD; working knowledge of Revit or willingness to learn
Experience developing procurement specifications, system diagrams, layouts, and performance‑driven design documentation
Understanding of networked audio/video systems and large, distributed system architectures
Knowledge of relevant industry standards, codes, and best practices (UL, NEC, NFPA)
Ability to communicate design intent clearly and collaborate effectively across creative and technical disciplines
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
Hands‑on hardware experience that informs practical, buildable designs
Experience scripting or configuring audio control and processing platforms (Alcorn V16, Peavey NION, QSC Q‑SYS)
On‑board audio system design and commissioning experience
Industry certifications (QSC, Audinate, AVIXA, Cisco, BICSI)
Ability to work independently, adapt designs as creative direction evolves, and incorporate multi‑discipline input
Willingness to travel or relocate for extended project assignments (6–12 months)
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Audio/Video Engineering, or a related field
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license desired
