About the Role & Team
This role will be an integral part of the Disney controllership retain team, overseeing accounting work and controls performed by Capgemini for global Intercompany accounting, as well as the Publishing line of business. In addition, this role will lead the global intercompany governance, and coordinate across functions including tax and legal to ensure strict adherence to tax, statutory, US GAAP, and transfer pricing requirements.
The Intercompany Accounting team is responsible for managing intercompany accounting activities across all Disney segments, including Corporate, Disney Experiences, and Disney Entertainment. This role has interaction with a broad array of corporate and segment management personnel. It represents a unique opportunity to provide ongoing intercompany accounting and transfer pricing oversight, as well as be involved with key initiatives and special projects within the Company.
The Global Publishing business is comprised of self-published and vertically integrated Disney and Nat Geo titles, Marvel Comics, and licensed publishing. This role will provide services to our Publishing business partners and ensure overall strong financial controls.
What You Will Do
Intercompany Accounting:
Lead the transition of intercompany accounting processes to Capgemini, including ensuring robust and complete process documentation and training.
Oversee the day-to-day accounting for intercompany processes across the enterprise, initially managing the Disney IC team through December 2025, and then transitioning the work to Capgemini. This position will be expected to have daily interaction with the Capgemini team, ensuring that processes are adhered to and financial transactions are recorded timely and accurately.
Partner with Corporate Tax, Legal, and the various LOB controllership teams to design and implement new intercompany processes that are driven by business changes, acquisitions and divestions, and/or changes in transfer pricing/tax requirements and regulations, as well as to ensure overall compliance with tax, statutory and transfer pricing requirements with respect to all IC accounting.
Oversee the monthly and quarterly intercompany close processes, including review of critical close deliverables, variance analysis, and performance of all Sarbanes Oxley controls
Recruit, manage and develop two team members located in Orlando, and indirectly oversee the Capgemini resources which are providing accounting services to Disney for intercompany and publishing.
Serve as a subject matter expert and key contributor towards our upcoming implementation of Blackline as our end to end intercompany accounting tool.
Manage master data for intercompany transactions, including standardization of general ledger accounts, management of approved intercompany trading partners, and other coding blocks utilized for consistent, efficient and accurate financial reporting
Oversee highly complex IC transactions, including Producer Share, Captive Procurement entity IC reconciliations, and cost sharing, and coordinate HR changes that affect intercompany accounting within multiple Remote Workforce entities
Ensure IC AR/AP and IC Rev/Expense are in balance for quarter close, assist Capgemini with investigating variances, and partner with Enterprise Reporting to ensure that IC is properly eliminated in consolidation
Identify and drive standardization and process improvements for IC accounting, including leveraging automation where possible
Lead IC related ad hoc requests and projects as required, including but not limited to new system implementations, GL account clean up, domestic intercompany matching and clearing, company code mergers and liquidations, and ad hoc reporting requests
Publishing Accounting:
Oversee the publishing accounting work to be performed by Capgemini, including serving as a subject matter expert to assist with issues and knowledge gaps, and provide a point of escalation
Ensure strong financial controls and accurate financial results are consistently performed by the Capgemini team, including monthly and quarterly financial reviews and KPI discussions
Manage publishing accounting processes that remain with the retain team, including
Serve as the primary point of contact for Publishing business partners for issue resolution, esclations, ad hoc requests, and/or new process implementation due to operational or regulatory changes
Required Qualifications & Skills
7+ years of experience in accounting roles
At least 3-5 years of management experience
Prior experience with leading a team, with proven leadership skills.
Experience working with third parties in an outsource or consulting model.
This role requires someone who can work well under pressure, handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, effectively prioritize work, and effectively communicate across all levels and functions.
Strong client service skills and a can-do mentality are critical for success in this role. Responsibilities will often be ad hoc in nature so recurring; structure work will often need to be balanced with the unexpected.
Proficient in US GAAP
Effective communicator, a driver who achieves results, preferably with knowledge of intercompany accounting, transfer pricing, and/or the publishing business, including inventory, supply chain, and royalties.
SAP experience is highly beneficial.
