This ESPN Operations department ensures smooth functioning across various departments by managing budgets for marketing initiatives, overseeing technology development and implementation, handling purchase orders, and coordinating office logistics. We help allocate resources for advertising campaigns and promotional events, deploy cutting-edge technologies, negotiate with vendors, and maintain accurate procurement records. Additionally, we manage office space, workplace technology, and equipment for the marketing department to create a productive work environment. This comprehensive approach supports ESPN's operational efficiency and brand impact.
The Associate Manager, Marketing Operations is responsible for day-to-day management of the marketing budget, including recording actual expenses and verifying correct coding, while working cross-functionally with all departments on their planned and actual spends. They aid in tech partner relations with leadership to maximize ROI on systems and implement AI initiatives within the organization to drive awareness and education across the department. Additionally, they are responsible for managing contracts with 3rd party vendors and agencies to drive efficiency and ensure compliance. The role also involves providing periodic reporting and analysis, including monthly and quarterly forecasting, close documents, LRP/AOP, and scenario planning. This role is based in New York, NY.
Responsibilities:
- Track day-to-day marketing budget, including recording actual expenses and verifying correct coding.
- Work cross-functionally with all departments on their planned and actual spends.
- Provide periodic reporting and analysis, including monthly and quarterly forecasting, close documents, LRP/AOP, and scenario planning.
- Clean up and manage T&E spends to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Collaborate with finance and other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Aid in tech partner management with leadership, tracking adoption, performance, and ROI of key tools/initiatives.
- Implement AI solutions within the organization to drive awareness and education across the department.
- Evaluate, test, and integrate technology and tools to improve operating efficiency.
- Build and maintain internal toolkits, training frameworks, and communication plans for key Operational functions.
- Manage contracts with agencies and technology vendors to drive efficiency and ensure compliance.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in marketing, technology, or finance, with a focus on financial/strategic planning, budget management, or a data-driven strategy role.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in marketing automation tools and financial software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficient with statistical analysis and forecasting with a strong ability to identify and address data quality issues.
- Skilled at translating business needs into actionable platform roadmaps and enablement strategies.
- Familiarity with emerging technologies, such as AI, LLMs, and machine learning applications.
- Experience in evaluating third party vendors, implementation, and contract negotiations.
- Background in digital marketing, sports, or media/technology industries is a plus.
Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Finance, or a related field

The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $74,300.00 to $99,600.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
